Talk by Mike prince – A Quiet Landscape – Friday 22nd November 2019

On Friday we were treated to an inspirational talk by landscape photographer Mike Prince.

Mike talked about how he likes to visit places, particularly in the more remote areas, away from the hotspots, of the Lake District and Scotland, and just sit and wait, sometimes all day, for the right light to appear for his shot.

He quoted David Alan Harvey – ‘Don’t shoot what it looks like, shoot what it feels like.’ Something Mike achieves with his images!

He took us on a trip around various valleys and trees and woodland of the Lakes, the north-west highlands of Scotland, and the islands of Skye, Harris and Eigg. Thanks to Mike for a memorable evening.

A reminder that next week, another local landscape photographer, Stuart McGlennon, will be giving us a talk – A Change in Direction. The following week, Gerald Chamberlain will be judging our 3rd Open Competition, and entries for our 4th Open – Creative should be handed in.

Prints to be considered for entry into the PAGB competition in January should be handed to Brian, preferably by 6th December, but certainly no later than 13th. Brian will circulate entry details to all members in the near future.
