Dave Mason – I Shoot People – Friday 12th February 2021.

Last night we were joined by Dave Mason. Dave, from Canterbury, shoots images of the environment around him, the people and the streets. They show people’s interaction with their environment, and people’s interaction with each other.

In many of his images he carefully selects his background, be it a shop window, a wall poster, a building, building site or within a gallery. He then waits patiently for the right subject to come along to form a narrative. This often results in some very entertaining and amusing images!

Through the talk we were taken on a tour of the streets of British seaside towns, London, Paris, Cairo and Marrakech. All showed the care he takes trying to achieve colour harmony between the subject and the background.

Our thanks to Dave for a very relaxed and enjoyable evening.

Next week, 19th February, Adrian McGarry will be joining us to give a talk on I Phone Photography.

A reminder that images, (2 PDI’s), for the Chairmans Challenge – ABSTRACT – should be with the Competition Secretary by Monday 1st March.
